Liquidamber

Liquidambar (Hamamelidaceae)

The Liquid Ambar is one of the most beautiful trees all year long but is especially breathtaking too see during the autumn when it's leaves change from green to different colors in a span of weeks. This tree is originally from the East coast of the United States and was introduced West. Mexican people for a long time have known and used the resin it secretes for medicinal purposes. European people have also been drawn to the medicinal properties and also use the resin nowadays for the same reasons. There are several trees scattered all over Golden Gate Park. There are a couple at the corner of John F. Kennedy Drive and 8th ave. These in particular provide great shade in the evenings for a bench that is situated right beneath one as you can see in the picture below.

A beautiful Liquidambar tree at Paradise Beach Park in Tiburon. Pictures were taken the same minute, both from the opposite side of the tree. One side is red, the other is yellow-green.
